This is the only snipe fix solution I could find

This is the only snipe fix solution I could find for the dealt 735 and it did not disappoint. Installation was involved and you have to be precise, understandably so. I am so happy with end result. Snipe is basically gone. Before I had this kit I had 6 inches of snipe. 3” on front and back. If you have a dewalt 735 you need to get this kit.

Product is awesome! The kit completely fixed my snipe issue. However the best part of my purchase was having Jan, the owner, back my purchase with his customer service. I had an issue with one of the replacement bolts and Jan responded quickly and gave me several options to get me going quickly. He also provided technical assistance when needed and made the roller adjustment process easy. That is priceless!

Didn't expect much but actually snipe is 95% gone and what is left is only barely detectable and doesn't interfere with the next step of whatever I'm doing. So, a huge improvement. Installation was drastically easier than switching the cutter head out. Packaging was extremely professional and the price can't be complained about. I'm not sure how it could be improved!

Easy to install, easy to calibrate, and excellent results. All parts in the kit are of great quality, and come well packaged. Instructions are easy to follow and detailed. After initial installation (~30min, and I am slow) and test, I had a minute snipe already very acceptable. I wrote to Jan and he answered promptly and practically. Took 5min of extra calibration and had perfect results (0.1mm difference along the board). Highly recommend this upgrade.

I wish I could say more, but I've only used it once since installation. Right before installing the fix kit, I was experiencing consistent snipe on anything I'd send through my planer. After installation, the snipe was gone. I would say that using a dial indicator (digital or analog) is essential for the greatest success in setting the kits up. Feeler Gauges are too fiddly. Great product!!

What is planer snipe and why does it happen?

A deeper cut at the ends of a board. When only one feed roller holds the work, the head flexes and the cutterhead dips a few thousandths

What are the main causes?

The load difference between one-roller and two-roller contact. Unsupported boards and heavy cuts make it worse.

What is the best planer snipe fix?

Stop the flex by limiting how far the feed rollers compress. Floor-standing planers do this, and the Fix Kit adds it to the DW735.

Is there an easy fix for the DEWALT DW735 and DW735X?

Yes. The Planer Snipe Fix Kit installs in 20 to 40 minutes, with nothing drilled into your planer, and it’s fully reversible.

How do I prevent snipe?

Support tables, light passes and lifting the ends help a little, but they’re workarounds. Capping roller compression fixes the cause.

Can I completely eliminate snipe?

Close to it. Customers measure 1 to 2 thousandths after setup.

Does a helical cutterhead reduce snipe?

No. A Shelix improves cut quality, but snipe comes from head flex. The Fix Kit works with both stock and helical heads.

Can you remove snipe after planing?

You can sand, hand plane, or cut it off, but that costs time, wood, or length. Preventing it is cheaper.
